Obituary for Barbara Mae Polk

Barbara Mae Polk, 65 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this temporary life on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in Tulsa. Barbara was born April 23, 1952 in Pryor, Oklahoma, a daughter of Benjamin Franklin Shrum and Ollie May Louise Lloyd Shrum.

Barbara was a domestic homemaker, where she made her home warm and pleasant to all who entered. She always loved her family time and enjoyed cooking for family and friends; she loved baking and became a famous fudge maker. She also, enjoyed the outdoors where she loved to garden and absolutely LOVED to fish.

Barbara married the love of her life, James Polk on June 30, 2003, where they enjoyed 37 years together. They raised two sons and two daughters, making their home in Tulsa.

Survivors include her husband, James Polk of the home; two sons, Timothy Polk and John Polk of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters, Lora Polk and Tiffany Billings of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sisters, Mary Bruffett, Pat Bosewell, and Debbie Shrum all of Pryor, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild and extended family and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; one brother, Benjamin Shrum, Jr. and two sisters, Martha Garrison and Betty Jo Shrum.

A visitation will be on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home, 1200 North Cleveland, Sand Springs, Oklahoma 74063.

Graveside will be on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Road, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma 74434
