Charlene "Chene" Virginia Sherfield Bagby Obituary (1937 - 2018)

Charlene "Chene" Bagby, 80 passed away at her residence in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, January 29, 2018 with family by her side. She was born on February 16, 1937 to James Franklin Sherfield and Myrtle (Glover) Sherfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home in Sand Springs. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Dillon Marler Dighton Legacy Chapel with an interment to follow at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 till 5:00 pm on Sunday, February 4, 2018. "Chene" married the love of her life, Jimmy Lee Bagby in 1954 making their home in the Sand Springs area and from this union they raised four sons and one daughter. "Chene" played for her high school basketball team and was the valedictorian of her high school class before graduating and later she went on to do tax preparation in accounting. In her own time, she loved to study the bible, loved listening to gospel music and would often sing-a-long. "Chene" really had a passion and heart to serve the Lord. She enjoyed crocheting and loved to sew. Her favorite color was cobalt blue and would often collect all sorts of things in this color. She especially loved to cook and bake; and her favorite foods to cook was her chicken and dumplings, her fabulous peanut brittle and she loved to serve her chips and salsa. She is survived by one daughter, Laraine Wagoner and husband Mitch of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four sons, Douglas Bagby and wife JoAnne of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Quentin Bagby and wife Rhonda of Pace, Florida, Jimmy Paul Bagby and wife Dana and David Bagby and wife Megan both of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; twenty-nine grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren. "Chene" is preceded in death by her late husband, Jimmy Lee Bagby; her parents, James and Myrtle (Glover) Sherfield; two brothers, four sisters and one daughter, Iwana Bagby.
