Obituary for Donald Dean Townsend

Donald Dean Townsend, age 89 of Wagoner, passed away on Friday, December 01, 2017 at his home in Wagoner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home’s Legacy Chapel in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park, Sand Springs.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home in Sand Springs.
Donald was born on October 5, 1928 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to the late Amon Jasper and Sally Henrietta (Plyler) Townsend. He grew up and attended school in Durant. Donald married the love of his life Norma Richardson on May 2, 1950. They had one child, Don Townsend Jr. who passed away at the age of 12.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He lived in Lubbock, Texas for many years where he was a delivery driver for milk and ice cream products. He enjoyed traveling, playing the guitar and country singers. They moved to Wagoner four years ago to live with his wife’s sister and niece.
Donald is survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Barlow and husband Darrell of Wagoner, brother-in-law James Otto Richardson Jr. and wife Lolita of Clovis, New Mexico, niece Norma Hight and husband Joel of Wagoner, great nieces and nephews Britny Boyd and husband Roger, Joy Hight and husband Sean Bullock, great great nieces and nephews Gavyn Coleman, Jayden Dobbs, Dayton Dobbs, Cheyenne Boyd and Colton Boyd.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Norma Townsend; son Donald Dean Townsend Jr.; parents, Amon Jasper Townsend and Sallie Henrietta Plyler Townsend, one sister, Deci Mae Eisenhauer and two brothers, J.D. Townsend and Watts Townsend.
