Obituary for Dr. Samuel C. Swift, PE

Dr. Samuel C. Swift, PE, longtime Sand Springs resident, passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma with family by his side on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the age of 72.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life service with Masonic Rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home’s Legacy Chapel. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery, Sand Springs. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home’s Legacy Chapel.

Samuel was born on January 16, 1945 to George Edward Swift and Esta Elizabeth Payeatte Swift in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was a former President of Charles Page High School Class of 1962. He received his Doctorate Degree in Engineering and became a Petroleum Engineer. He was a former owner/operator of Swift Engineering Company and worked on inland and off shore oil rigs. Dr. Swift was sought internationally for his knowledge and experience in well testing.

Samuel married the love of his life, Eva JoAnn Jones on November 30, 1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Samuel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He was a 32nd Degree Mason serving 41 years in Sand Springs Masonic Lodge #475. He also, was a member of the Tulsa Scottish Rite Society, the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was a world traveler; he loved camping with family in Silverton, Colorado as well as other places, loved to go four wheeling in his Jeep and loved to ride motorcycles.

Samuel is survived by two daughters, Betsy Shockley and husband David of Salem, Missouri, Jana Hubble and husband Jeff of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; three sons, Craig Swift and wife Barbara of Houston, Texas, Cos Swift and wife Ethel of Mustang, Oklahoma and Michael Swift and wife Jennifer of Owasso, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ann Russell and husband Don of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Helen Callis of Gainesville, Florida; six grandchildren, Brennon and wife Jacie, Blayne and wife Alejandra, Kacie, Neil, Logan and Katara; several nieces and nephews; cousins and extended family and friends.

Samuel was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva Joann Jones Swift; three brothers, Paul, George and Jesse; two sisters, Fran and Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers one can donate to American Diabetes Association.
