Edith Fern Copeland Obituary (1932 - 2018)

Edith Fern Ames was born February 10, 1932 in Craig county near Centralia, Oklahoma. She was raised in Nowata county. She graduated from Lenapah High School in 1949. Edith married Noah Copeland in 1959 and in September of 1961, her first and only child was born, Nathan. She preceded the death of her husband in 1981. She married again in 1983 to Virgil Chesney. Edith worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1954 to 1985. After retiring at the age of 55, she enjoyed cut work, embroidery, quilting and sewing (anything to keep her hands busy). She loved fishing with her son and grandsons, anything that brought her back outdoors. She lived in Tulsa and the Verdigris area most of her adult life. She was a member of Pioneers of America and made bears for children involved in accidents. Volunteer work was a passion of hers. She loved her church family and was known for making the best deviled eggs and chocolate cake. Edith went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2018 at 85 at Brookdale Claremore Senior Living and memory care facility. She was preceded in passing by her parents Alfred Vernon Ames and Maggie Jewel Howe Ames, brothers Vernon and Tom Ames and sister Janieve Duncan, husbands Noah Copeland and Virgil Chesney, Allen Copeland and Laura Vallerani. She is survived by her siblings Betty Lawrence, Reva Vaughn and Paul Ames, son Nathan Copeland and Dawna Applegate Copeland, daughter Loretta Copeland Brown, grand children Valerie Bowles, Richard Copeland, Cindy Cassaday Newell, Bryan and Jessica Anderson Copeland, Jonathan and Aarika Ochoa Copeland and great grandchildren Zoii, Noah, Taylor, Tristan and Aspen Copeland. Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Destiny Life Church in Claremore, OK Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday January 11, 2018 at the Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral in Sand Springs, Ok
