Obituary for Melissa Anne Hunter

We celebrate the life of Melissa Anne (Lucas) Hunter who passed away on January 9, 2018.

Services will be held on Monday January 15, 2018, 12:00 pm at The Bridge Church, 11929 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby, OK.

Visitation will be held on Sunday January 14, 2018 at the Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home in Sand Springs, OK from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Melissa Anne was born in Evanston, Illinois to James Edward and Mary-Ann (Parisi) Lucas on June 10, 1967. At the age of 6, she moved to Tulsa, OK where she attended Academy Central Grammar School and Central and Union High Schools. She had a successful career as an advertising specialist. It was at work where she met her husband Thomas of Ricardos Restaurant.

On April 10, 1999, she was united in marriage to Thomas Hunter. They shared a loving and devoted union for more than 18 years, until her passing. During their time together, Thomas and Melissa enjoyed sharing their Christian values with their son Kenneth as they raised him. They also enjoyed spending time with their many friends and family, including traveling with them. The beaches were always calling Melissa’s name. Her husband, family and friends were most important to her and gave her great joy.

For those who knew her, she was kind, caring and accepting of all. She was always there to help someone in need without looking for anything in return. She was dedicated to everything she did in life including her fight against lymphoma cancer.

She will truly be missed here on earth, but is now with her loving grandparents and friend Pat whom she loved dearly.

Melissa leaves behind her one true love, her husband, Thomas Hunter and greatest gift, her son, Kenneth Ray Lucas. She is survived by her mother Mary-Ann Parisi and Stepfather Robert Watson; her sisters and brothers, Tamara Lucas, James Lucas, Doug Lucas and Stephanie Lis. Family was very special to her including her 2 nieces, 4 nephews, many friends and Gigi to the children of her neighborhood.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for your consideration of a donation to the Oklahoma chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society ( or 1-405-943-8888).
