Obituary for Rex D. Coleman

Rex D. Coleman, 84 of Tulsa, Oklahoma pass from this life on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at a Tulsa hospital. He was born February 20, 1933 in Ottumwa, Iowa to the late Woodrow Coleman and Hazel Wells Coleman. Mr. Coleman married his wife of 56 years, Beulah Marie Davis Coleman in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Rex loved to have weekend gatherings on his 180 acre farm in Chetopa, Kansas back in his earlier days where they would sit around and have fun family time that included fishing and lots of delicious cooking. He also liked to read and watch Western movies.

He is survived by his wife, Beulah Marie Davis Coleman of the home; one son, Cecil “Hank” Betterton and wife Lynette of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; three sisters, Karen Johnson of Escondido, California, Madeline Schmid and husband Walter of Ramona, California, and Joan McCune of El Cajon, California; two grandsons, Jason Betterton of San Diego, California and Andrew Betterton of San Diego, California; two great-granddaughters, Grace and Alice Betterton of San Diego, California; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Nolan Raymond Betterton, Jr. in 2016 and one grandson, Tanner Betterton in 2006.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home's Legacy Chapel, 1200 North Cleveland Ave., Sand Springs, Oklahoma 74063.
