Alvin James McKenna Obituary (1927 - 2018)

Alvin James McKenna, 91, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on June 16, 2018 in Tulsa. He was born on May 30, 1927 in Queens, New York, the son of Felix McKenna and Lillian Kay (Ludwig) McKenna. Alvin served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII where he served in Germany and later became a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Alvin married the love of his life Kathleen White and after the war they spent sixty years in Floral Park, New York, before moving to Oklahoma in 2012. From this union they had one son, Bruce McKenna. He was active in New Hyde Park Baptist Church in New York. He enjoyed spending time in East Hampton, New York, and when he was younger enjoyed fishing. He loved spending time with his family and would spend as much time as possible with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alvin was a collector especially of coins and stamps. He also, enjoyed woodworking and model trains. Alvin is survived by one son, Bruce A. McKenna and wife Catherine M. Cullem of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Rachel Durossette and husband Robin, and Gregory R. McKenna both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and two beloved great-grandchildren, Irie Durossette and Lillian Durossette of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Kathleen McKenna in 2014 and sister-in-law, Lorraine White in 2017. In lieu of flowers please make any contributions to the American Heart Association. Services will be private at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
